Climate of Olomouc

The book Climate of Olomouc summarizes the available knowledge about the climate of Olomouc and its surroundings. Its scope and content is currently the only one in the Czech Republic. The introductory chapters are devoted to the study of the urban climate and the history of meteorological measurements and observations in Olomouc and its surroundings. The main part of the book contains a description of the regime of the main meteorological elements in Olomouc in the period 1961-2010, which is followed by a presentation of the results obtained by purposeful measurement in the Olomouc Metropolitan Station Network (MESSO). Non-traditional methods were used, namely mobile measurement and ground thermal monitoring. Attention was paid to the occurrence of dangerous meteorological events, long-term fluctuations in air temperature and precipitation in Olomouc, as well as the use of measurements in MESSO for the protection of residents.
