St. Peter’s Prayer Gregory and The Prayer of Confessions of Sins
Miroslav Vepřek
The book deals with a comprehensive analysis of two remarkable Church-Slavic paraliturgical texts, The Prayer of St. Gregory and Prayer confession of sins. This analysis is based on a comparation with their hitherto unknown and recently discovered Latin designs by the author. The origin of the translation of both prayers can probably be found in Přemyslusian Bohemia in the 11th century. Although they were preserved only in younger copies from the Russian environment. Through their examination, much broader contexts of this issue are also considered – the context of The Czech Church’s Slavic literature as a whole, the oldest literary relations of Czech-Russian, the question of Western influences on Old Lingual, or the possibility of Iroskot’s missionary activities at the beginnings of Moravian and Czech Christianity.
