Rector’s reedial

Rector’s reedial
Joseph Jařab

November 1989 changed the life of our entire society and virtually every individual. I’m sure. Quite unexpectedly, I became rector of our university. Political change, the ‘Velvet Revolution’, offered the school’s new, democratically elected leadership great opportunities to transform it in every way. Quite visibly, the university grew. At the same time, it was necessary to ensure that quantity did not jeopardize the quality of the study. New problems were constantly ing and needed to be addressed on the fly. When I handed over the keys to the rector’s office to my successor in February 1997, I had a pretty good feeling that much had been done. And, of course, I have been and continue to be grateful to my alma mater and fate for the opportunity to be there as Palacky University enters the historically third period of its existence.
