Palacky University in Olomouc presents the second publication of its edition series Memory UP, this time the memoir of the ‘physical king and intellectual star of not only the University of Olomouc’ Jan Duřina. We can thus follow the incredible life story of a son from a ‘kulacké’ family, who, despite his political stigma, has developed into a respected scientist of global importance thanks to his talent and diligence. At the same time, authentically razor-sharp memoirs bring the academic environment, the system of scientific work and the concrete realization of scientific projects in the field of natural sciences from the 1960s to the present day.
