Mors ultima linea rerum

The publication presents almost two hundred full-figure sepulchral monuments, which are among the most important examples of this production of the late Gothic, Renaissance or Mannerism period in Moravia and The Czech Silesia. In addition to their documentation, it also brings typological, structural, iconographic and stylish characteristics, prosopographic, heraldic, genealogical and sociohistoric data. Sepulchral monuments are not processed in the form of a catalogue, but on the basis of artistically critical comparation they are systematically sorted into author’s or workshop-bound groups. The material is also a pictorial document that approximates the nationally pluralistic composition of contemporary aristocratic and bourgebility society, in which we meet personalities who held significant positions in the provincial authorities.
